When time came to replace my old Samsung Galaxy S10, I desperately wanted to buy another Samsung, but as a water-sports devotee went with Apple solely because of their guarantee of waterproofness to 6 meters, whereas Samsung only offers 1.5 meters.  If Apple can do it, why can't Samsung?  In this day and age, a $1500 phone should be able to survive more than a dip in the toilet.

Well, why would you take your phone into the water with you without putting it in one of those waterproof bags?  You gonna make calls while surfing? Or take underwater photos?

I have awesome photos of recent canyoneering and rafting trips because I could jump in the water with my iPhone.  "Waterproof" bags can fail, and you don't always get the best quality photos out of them.

They're both rated ip68. If Apple thinks they have better water resistance than samsung then they should seek a higher rating. Otherwise, it's just marketing.
