Samsung new Android OS version : No option to stay in the browser

Hello,

We have identified a concerning behavior following the recent Samsung OS update: when users click on Amazon links, they are automatically redirected to the Amazon App without their consent. This bypasses the traditional option to continue browsing in their web browser. Furthermore, any browser links from mobile applications are now opening in the device's default browser, which may differ from the browser where the user initiated the action. This forced redirection compromises user choice and creates an inconsistent browsing experience.

Ex :
Chrome -> Mobile App -> Samsung Internet Browser (default).

Thanks
Sivanaga

I think you a should submit what you've just posted as a feedback to Samsung.

As for the redirect to another app, that's been happening on my phone since day one on the prior One UI 7 before the upgrade; Amazon and YouTube. And I circumvent it (when I need to) as I had done before; open the link in another tab. Handy when I want to bookmark the Amazon/YouTube link.

Also, if you go to your settings > apps > Amazon Shopping > Set as Default, there is an option called, Open supported links. Try turn that off and see if that helps.

As for the default browser enforcement, that's the whole idea of a "default"; to specify a preference. I think if you can clear the browser default, it would start asking you (each time you open a link in a non-browser app) which browser to use and if it's a one-time or permanent choice. I don't remember right now how to clear a specific default. Hopefully someone else does and pipes up.

Update:
I did some research, and it appears that Google has removed the ability to clear the browser default; android will automatically set the default to the first available browser installed. However, there are apps that replace the option to select between two or more browsers such as "Browser Picker". Referred to as browser selectors, these apps however are relatively new.
