5G or LTE symbol while on WIFI?

I've noticed that while I'm connected to WIFI, the 5G or LTE symbol will sometimes popup in the status bar and then go away. You can see this in the screenshots below where the top photo shows LTE while connected to WIFI and in the photo below, its gone, which I think is normal.  I'm just curious as to what it means when the LTE or 5G symbols pops up while connected to WIFI.

It uses your data occasionally. if you do not prefer it, go to settings>wifi>advanced>switch to mobile data

Not unusual - it's a "checking feature"

When at home or at a store, I switch off Data ... no need for it when on WiFi

It also depends on where 5G is located and what area it is available in

oddly, my wife's S21U has a static 5G notification even when connected to WiFi...mine doesn't (I've confirmed our settings are identical)

That's really strange because when you're using a Wi-Fi signal the 5G should go away really strange
