A Fix For No Voicemail for Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S22

I just setup an Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S22 SM-S901U1 with Tracfone/VZW. Everything transferred including making and receiving calls and texts. But, when I left a Voicemail on my S22, there was no indication at all. If I dialed into my voicemail, the message was there.

I had searched this and the instructions said to go to Settings> Apps> Voicemail and make sure Notifications were allowed, as well as making sure the Battery was set to Unrestricted. I basically gave permissions to everything, and it still would not notify me.

Down at the bottom of the screen, it shows a shortcut which says Open. This started an installation of the Visual Voicemail app, and placed a shortcut icon on my desktop. Bingo!

Now when I get a Voicemail, it almost immediately notifies me and it can be played right on the phone without having to access the VM system.

Just thought I'd share for anyone with an unlocked phone, Samsung does include Visual VM, which may or may not work with your carrier. Most Locked phones have a carrier specific Visual Voicemail App. Here is the link to add VVM.

After thinking on this a while, I want to add that I set up this phone without a SIM and I did not see a Voicemail icon and there were no settings for voicemail until AFTER I setup my phone service with a SIM. When I set it up, there was a message that the phone had to reboot and install some apps. So, it may just be that the voicemail icon was always there on the home screen, and all you have to do is launch it to install. Here is the green VM icon you would be looking for.
