Help! Has this happened to anyone else and how can I fix this?!

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S22 ultra phone which just did some system updates.

After the last one or so my whole home screen layout was completely gone as far as no app icons and the settings I had for it. The widgets, my folders of apps and icons, and even all the web browser pages I added as shortcuts icons to my home screen.

This has never happened before with any other update until now with the new UI 6.1 or something like that.

I've already tried to go into settings and under backup and restore to restore home screen but it did absolutely nothing at all!

I wouldn't be as frustrated as I know I could just manually put the app icons and my normal home screen settings back but I'm more frustrated because of what I can not get back which is all the important web pages I added to home screen.

Can someone please tell me this is a way to recover this and fill me in on how??! That would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance!!

Yes I have backups and I tried cleaning the cache but I couldn't restore the backup....it didn't delete my apps just took them all off my home screen....which included a lot of web pages I hit "add to home screen" so when those icons that aren't apps were taken off I can't get them back. But even so with backing up my phone all the time and the fact that I did and do have backup I tried to restore it and settings and hit home screen under restore and nothing happened like it didn't put my apps back to where I had them or anything Just no change at all and I don't know how else to restore a backup of all your icons that are on your home screen pages and in certain spots and in certain folders etc.

How do you get that kind of backup back ? Do you know how?

You would have to use Smart Switch that you download from the Galaxy Store, once Smart Switch is installed on phone, you put an external drive into your UBC port, open Smart Switch, at the top right corner there is icon, that looks like an SD card press that, press back up, it will ask what you want backed up, I press all, it will take a while depending of what is on your phone. It will back up everything, all of your settings, folders al of screens. Everything. Should you need to factory reset your device, when setting up your device again, you just open Smart Switch plug in the thump drive and tap on copy all.

Did you, by any chance, install a custom launcher that may have changed your home screen?  In any case, as far as the webpages you added to your home screen, when you did that it should also have created a bookmark in your favorites folder in whichever browser you used. You should be able to get them back that way.

At any time did you try actually doing a factory reset, and restoring your backup?

I thought factory reset gets rid of everything and makes your phone wiped of everything like you just got it?

It does, and restoring a backup should put everything back the way you had it. The only time you would not want to restore your backup is if you suspected being hacked or were infected with malware. Most other times, resetting clears out system errors and the backups do not usually contain thise errors. You can also, I believe, selectively reinstall backed up items so you can start with a fresh OS, but still preserve your documents, photos, apps and settings so you don't have to reinstall them all and set up again. I do not believe the OS is contained in the backup.
