I've read a few articles saying the gallery app keeps crashing. At first I thought my phone was hacked because I was just using the app. I read about clearing cache, restarting the phone, none of this has worked. I've turned it on and off. Now any app in my phone related to the gallery (files, settings, storage) also crash when I try to open it. I read about deleting a .heic file in the phone, but when I searched for that, my phone started crashing. I don't know if it's been hacked or there is a software glitch but I hope it gets resolved soon.
