? Hacked / malware?

• Google play is offering to download onto a phone I dont own- 

They show my phone  s22 and a samsung s9 not mine.

Macafee popped up earlier saying phone was infected but I ignored thinking it was a sales tactic.

Looking for trustworthy next move.

Yep I could do that. I don't currently use them and wasn't sure who would be the best choice and if  it was a sales tactic I would rather not support any company that finds tactic that acceptable .

You mentioned McAfee popped up in your post so guessed you had mcafee

First of all go into your Google account and sign out any phone you do not recognize then change your account password. Log into Google play on a computer if you have one or log in via a web browser in desktop view. Go to manage devices and uncheck any device listed that's not yours to hide them so you won't be asked to download to them. If you have a genuine Mcafee subscription, run a scan and clean out whatever it finds. If you don't have a Mcafee subscription, download Malwarebytes and run a scan. If you do have a McAfee subscription, why would you ignore a warning? There's no point of having anti-malware if you are not going to pay attention to warnings.

I don't have McAfee that's why I said I thought it was sales .....the rest of what you suggest sounds good , currently am using Avast free version  and Defender   and wasn't sure who would be a good choice.  Not really my world.

If you have app protection turned on, you have McAfee provided by Samsung, but you can download any one you want. I recommend Malwarebytes free version because it's fully functional. It may occasionally prompt you to upgrade to premium, but not in a notification or popup.

Really .... I did not realize Samsung had provided that connection.

Where would I find if I have App protection selected   did a quick search in Samsung and didn't see it

If it's there, it would be in the security and privacy settings. Is your phone locked or unlocked and who is your carrier? If you are already using avast, you could run a scan with that. In all the years I've been computing, I have not known legitimate McAfee to send those bogus virus warnings as a tactic. Malicious software, however, uses McAfee's name to try to get you to click the link to further infect you.

Well just to wrap this up-

Seems I'm my own worst enemy!

• While going thru everything again last night I ran across my phones model # ......seems Google play displays an abbreviated version  which just consisted of Samsung  J 9 -  oh son of a =* .......at some point I must have renamed my phone  to T's S22. ＼(_ _) so Googles offer to download to this parasite device was actually me.
• I don't know the source of the pop up stating my phone was infected but it has been scanned several times and is clear.
• >The image of a highly intelligent animal repeatedly attacking itself in a mirror keeps coming to mind.

Ok I think I'm done here  - I appreciate those who know stuff and are willing to offer support.
