I received a message saying message + is going away, my phone is not allowing me to switch to the updated messenger app.

Verizon changing to Google messages

I was able to switch back to my original one such a hassle.

I did that and although Messeges app is working, the icon to place on home screen disappeared. Does not show in app icon gallery but shows in Settings>apps. Any idea to help
