The stock voicemail app will not notify me if I have a voicemail, ever.

My parents called me last week and my mom left me a message that my dad was sick. I didn't receive the call so I didn't know there was a voicemail. After missing a call from someone I knew I dialed my voicemail and friend there were MANY voicemails there. Including one from the state about arranging an inspection from the state for my farm. From 4 months ago!

I haven't received a single notification. I called my number and left a voicemail again with no notification.

FIX IT!

Even worse all of the notification settings are turned on and greyed out so I can't turned off notifications if I wanted to.

@eodmule To control individual notification categories:

  1. Open phone settings
  2. Click on Notifications
  3. Click on Advanced settings
  4. Enable the option "Manage notification categories for each app"

I've done that and they are all turned on for all types of notifications but are greyed out so I can't turn them off, they are all always on.

It appears that your voicemailbox is not sending the notification to your phone.  You are yelling at Samsung to fix it when it may very well be a carrier issue.  Have you contacted your carrier?

In the meantime, I would suggest making a habit of checking your voicemail at least once a day.  Surely you get missed call notifications - if you do, you can check your voicemail when you see the notification.

If it's a phone issue, you can try first resetting your phone and seeing if that solves the issue.  If that doesn't help, and your carrier insists it's not a "them" problem, then you can put in an error report with Samsung through the support tab in the members app and include your phone logs.  My first thought, though, is that this is a carrier/signal issue.

My wife has the exact same phone with the exact same provider with no problems at all.

The only difference is I've updated my phone since October. She hasn't.

That does not mean that your mailbox/number does not have an issue.  All things voicemail, the carrier is your first call.  After that, it's an error report, but I can guarantee you that Samsung will tell you first to reset your phone. A reset usually clears up most issues.  Make sure you have a current backup and an independent backup of all things important to you, then bite the bullet and reset.

Here's what to do: Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Phone. Tap Storage & cache, then Clear cache and Clear storage. Restart your phone and try to check your Visual Voicemail.

I've tried and same results. I can't even find the Samsung Visual Voicemail app in the Galaxy Store. Using my wife's phone it's there.
