Hoping someone has a solution to this- my phone broke and I had to restore the data from the smart switch backup. Unfortunately, I don't remember the encryption password for the data and so when it prompts me to restore secure folder data, I click that option but I have to enter a password I don't know.

Is there any way other than bruteforcing this?

Sorry but no if you donā€™t remember the password to decrypt the backup that data is lost

Unfortunately, if you cannot remember the password, there is nothing that can be done. Don't encrypt things if you are likely to forget the password. At least write the password down someplace - but then you'd also need to remember where you stored the password.

Again, I always have to ask when a similar question as this posted to this forum. My first inclination is always that someone is trying to break into someone else's phone or they stole or found a phone and now want to get into it. With the current events in the United States my trust for humanity continuing to be Humane to one another is sinking quickly.

Yeah, i always cringe when someone asks how to hack into a password protected phone.

I agree, it's either that or some SO trying to get into their partner's private space or some parent trying to spy on their child.  I cannot believe anyone encrypts or password protects something and then promptly forgets the password.  The only time that is possible for that to happen is if someone used a password generator and did not bother to write the generated password down.  This is actually the reason why you cannot recover the data if you don't have the password.
