After the last update today, all my family photos gone. Groups showing like there are albums inside, but after I open one it says add albums and appears completely empty.

I've tried restarting, checked my trash, nothing.

Did you try restoring your backup? Did you look in Google photos or your One Drive?

I don't use those.

It seems all the photos are still there in the device. Just albums as such have dissappeared. Which is really disappointing,  to sort tens of thousands of life long pictures seems mission impossible.

Are you sure the albums are gone and you are just not in the all pictures tab? You don't have to "use" Google Photos, they are backed up there by default (not in albums, though). Have you looked in the file manager to see if there are sub folders (albums) with photos in them in the DCIM folder?

I don't know why anyone would keep "tens of thousands" of photos on a phone without backing up their album structure to an external device. Anything can happen to your phone. And what's going to become of them when you are no longer around and family can't get into your device to save them?

Yes I am sure. As I said, I've checked file manager, and everything is there, the problem is albums, they have disappeared in the albums tab. I had groups of them and it still shows the groups and I can still see the groups and they don't look empty, but when I press on group it just says add albums, and then there is nothing to add.

Yes I have most of my photos in my old device, and in an SD card. And in my laptop. The only problem is the albums in the groups.

Some progress I see now, that the geouping of albums is the problem, as soon as I uncroup my albums they are back there. And even creating new groups doesn't work, it just shows the group is empty, after grouping.

What did you do to ungroup the albums? I have the same issue after the last update. I hate when they take it upon themselves to change your settings.

Just press and hold on the group, and after it's marked see ungroup button on the bottom left side of the screen. The button is there for S24 ultra, not sure where they placed it for other models.
