I have an S24 that I no longer need and want to sell. It was purchased via ATT and is now paid off. The have provided me an unlock code to unlock the phone but no instructions on how to enter the code on the phone. Is it possible to use the code to unlock the phone before I sell it to someone who may then want to take it to a different carrier?

You enter the code on the phone's keypad.  You have to be careful to enter it exactly, as you only get a limited amount of tries before you brick the phone completely.  If you are unsure of doing it yourself, take it to an AT&T store, or call AT&T to walk you through it.

Are you saying you open the phone app like you are going to dial a number and you enter the code using the key pad?

Yes. At least on a smart phone you get to put the code in and see it clearly on the screen to check before sending. In the old days we had to do it on tiny buttons and tiny screens with dot matrix, gray on green text.

IMHO, once you have your new phone up and running well and you know that you no longer need your old phone, you should definitely factory reset the phone to wipe your personal data from it and provide the unlock code to the user and let them deal with unlocking the device, if they choose to do so.
