Hello, everyone!

I generally sync my contacts with Google, but after grabbing a Galaxy Book Edge recently I wanted to sync my contacts with my Samsung account as well so they'll show up on the Phone app on the PC. However, my Samsung Cloud settings doesn't give me the option to use my Samsung account for contacts storage.

If I clear the data on the Samsung account app then go into account settings, Contacts will appear briefly but then dissappear. Not sure why, but it's really odd.

I'm using an unlocked S24 Ultra on Verizon, if that helps.

Thanks, everyone!

I just spoke with a Samsung account technician about this same issue. I also have an unlocked Galaxy 24 Ultra (purchased from Samsung's website) and use Verizon as my carrier. I haven't had an issue until I noticed Samsung Cloud's last good backup was in November 2024, and all manual backups instantly failed. I factory reset my phone, and syncing is working again with the exception of contacts. Contacts are not a listed sync option anymore. Samsung Cloud is also no longer available to me as a dedicated app. It's now tied to Samsung account storage and is more integrated with Smart Switch.

However, the Samsung technician confirmed that Verizon typically blocks Samsung Cloud contacts and message syncing in favor of their own services at least as long as she's been working for 2 years. Further online searches seem to corroborate that this has been an issue for much longer. For comparison, my Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra does not have this issue at all, but it's not helpful if my phone can't sync with those contacts.

It's surprising it took this long for me to have issues as a 12+ year Verizon and Samsung user, but it looks like Google and Outlook accounts are our best options for contacts cloud syncing.

Thanks so much for your reply! I found a REALLY roundabout way to workaround it. I have a Tab S9 that I'm using on the side. I sync my contacts on the phone with Google then sync the contacts to the tablet with that. Afterwards, I sync the contacts to my Samsung account on there.

I had a feeling it was a Verizon thing. I know they have blocked things in the past. It's really annoying but I'm glad it was confirmed. Thank you for your time!
