When i get a phone call from a saved contact their name does not show up on the caller ID. When I go to my recent calls it shows their name though. Anybody else had/have this issue?

I don't know if it was update but if it was it wasn't a recent one. It started happening not long after I purchased the phone when it came out.

Do you have caller ID and spam protection on in the phone settings?  If not, this is probably why.  You can turn caller ID on and turn off spam protection (if you don't want it). Also, check the caller information settings.

It is turned on. Even when it is turned off I still have the same issue. I've even factory reset the device. I find it hard to believe it's a hardware issue so my guess is a glitch in the firmware or something.

I'm just guessing..It could be a potential mixup with Google Contacts and Samsung Contacts.

I have fiddled with that a little but I haven't thought about it in reference to the issue so I'll try that. Thanks for the help. It's not a big enough deal to completely replace the phone it's just a little annoying sometimes.

On the messages app and phone app, all I see for new calls or old calls or any calls or messages is just the phone number. This seems to be a frequent problem based on the huge number of people who have this issue when I search for answers.

Obviously if I can't see the name, that means my phone no longer works as a phone or to receive messages. I switched from the iPhone about 2 months ago and this has been a constant problem. No one seems to know how to fix it. I read one supposed solution telling people that this was how it was supposed to work!

Interesting that all of the answers to this question which I see when I search via Google, take me to the Samsung community where the answers have been deleted. So I guess Samsung wants to hide this problem. If you can't fix it, pretend it doesn't exist.
