In your BT settings for the buds, does it say "connected for Audio"? Bring up your volume slider and make sure the BT volume is at the level you want, sometimes it's all the way mute until adjusted. This slider only appears when a BT audio device is connected. Also, do the JBL earbuds come with their own app? My OTE headphones did, and you can control most of the functions through the app.
