I recently activated my S24 ultra. It was working fine until it started asking me to switch to Google messages. Eventually it stopped letting me send SMS messages. I tried Google messenger and it all worked again. So I figured they were trying to force me into it. Now today I can't send SMS through either however MMS works just fine and all my other apps don't seem to have issues including I can still make phone calls. Any tips on how to fix it? I'm wondering if the RCS or gemeni have anything to do with it (that's a new one to me as I upgraded from an S21). Thanks for any suggestions!

(I do also have an old SIM card in it so I was wondering if maybe that is starting to go bad)

Updated to add I just figured out message strings using RCS work fine. Somehow one contact switched to SMS and it doesn't like that.

If you are trying to send an RCS message to a contact who either does not have RCS or has turned off RCS, make sure your messages settings are set to re-send as SMS/MMS if unable to send as RCS.

Even with this enabled it still refuses to send SMS messages. It only allows RCS or MMS. (for the people that it wants to do sms for I just have to type a, long enough paragraph for it to switch to MMS and it sends perfectly fine.

For any SMS messages it just says this. And when I click check options it has delete or resend. Resend does attempt but never goes through. 1743705377158.jpg

I don't understand why that is happening to you.  I have never had a problem with getting messages to anyone via RCS or SMS or MMS with RCS enabled, with the resend option enabled.  You really shouldn't even need to enable it; it just allows a message to be re-sent to an RCS user if it didn't go through.  Even with RCS enabled, if you send a message to someone who is not using RCS, it automatically goes as SMS (or converts to SMS on their end-I don't know which).  I have never used anything other than Google Messages, so I don't know if it could possibly be related to the switching of apps, although it shouldn't.
