Google Messages Search

Hello,

I'm curious how many of you use Google Messages. I switched to it midway through 2024 for several reasons. I frequently use the conversation search function. However, as of today, the search doesn't seem to be retrieving older conversations. It appears to be limited to conversations from today when I search for common words I know I use often. Could anyone please check if they are experiencing the same issue? I've already restarted my phone and cleared the cache.

Don't notice on mine any issues maybe has a limit on how old the conversation or message is just my guess

not sure either. I have a conversation with my significant other that goes all the way back to 2023 and it's not letting me go back that far. Sure I can scroll for hours but it was always easier. All my stared messages are there, nothing was deleted just something I noticed

According to Google support, you can search for Google Chat messages within a timeframe of around 90 days, as search suggestions are stored for this period after their use; however, you can technically access older messages by navigating directly to the conversation thread in your chat history, which stores all messages indefinitely unless manually deleted.

These are stored for approximately 90 days and can help you quickly find recent messages. 

Accessing older messages:

You can still view older messages by going directly to the relevant conversation thread in your chat history. 

No specific date range filter:

While you can't directly search using a specific date range in the search bar, navigating to a specific conversation allows you to see all messages within that thread, regardless of when they were sent.

Not sure mine has always gone back. To the point it would say like 1143/1143 yk and today's the first day it didn't and I've been doing it for that specific convo for almost 2 years now
