Are you sending using Samsung Messages?  Switch to Google Messages and turn on RCS.  Your photos will go through with no distortion.  You can always post a link to the image in a shared drive such as Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. so people can see your beautiful photos in all their glory.

Same issue. It's ok, though. It's just how the app compromises the image, which can lead to quality loss

If you're experiencing issues with your pictures looking awful when uploaded or sent, there are several factors to consider to ensure that your images maintain their quality. Here are some tips and strategies:

1. File Format

  • Use High-Quality Formats: JPEG is commonly used, but PNG can be better for maintaining quality, especially for images with text or sharp lines. For professional use, consider formats like TIFF or RAW.
  • Avoid Compression: When saving your images, choose the highest quality settings to minimize compression.

2. Resolution

  • High Resolution: Ensure your images are high resolution (300 DPI is standard for print, while 72 DPI is usually sufficient for web use).
  • Resize Appropriately: If your image is too large for the platform, resize it appropriately before uploading to avoid automatic compression.

3. Platform Considerations

  • Understand Platform Compression: Different platforms have different compression algorithms. For example, social media sites like Facebook and Instagram compress images to save bandwidth.
  • Optimize for Specific Platforms: Check each platform's recommended image sizes and formats. For example, Instagram prefers images that are 1080x1080 pixels for square posts.

4. Editing Software

  • Use Professional Software: Software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom allows for better control over image quality.
  • Export Settings: When exporting images, use settings that maintain high quality. Avoid over-compression.

5. Upload Method

  • Direct Uploads: Upload directly to the platform rather than through third-party apps, which might further compress your images.
  • High-Quality Settings: Some platforms offer high-quality upload settings. For example, Facebook allows high-quality photo uploads if you enable it in the settings.

6. Internet Connection

  • Stable Connection: A slow or unstable internet connection can sometimes result in poor uploads. Ensure you have a good connection when uploading large files.

7. File Size Limits

  • Check Limits: Many platforms have file size limits. Ensure your images are within these limits to avoid automatic resizing or compression.
  • Optimize Without Losing Quality: Use tools like TinyPNG or JPEGmini to reduce file size without significantly impacting quality.

8. Color Profiles

  • Use sRGB: For web images, using the sRGB color profile ensures colors display correctly across different devices and browsers.
  • Calibrate Your Monitor: Make sure your monitor is calibrated so that the colors you see while editing are accurate.

Practical Steps

  1. Edit with Professional Software:

    • Open your image in Photoshop or Lightroom.
    • Adjust the image quality settings.
    • Export the image in a suitable format and resolution.
  2. Check Platform Specifications:

    • Before uploading, check the platform’s recommended image dimensions and formats.
    • Resize your image accordingly.
  3. Upload Using High-Quality Settings:

    • For Facebook: Enable "Upload HD" in the settings.
    • For Instagram: Ensure your image fits within the recommended dimensions (e.g., 1080x1080 pixels for square images).

Example: Optimizing for Instagram

  1. Edit and Export in Photoshop:

    • Open your image in Photoshop.
    • Resize to 1080x1080 pixels.
    • Export using “Save for Web (Legacy)” with the quality set to high (80-100%).
  2. Upload:

    • Open Instagram on your device.
    • Select the image from your gallery.
    • Apply any additional filters or edits within Instagram.
    • Upload with a high-quality setting.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your amazing pictures look great when shared online. If you have specific issues with a particular platform or image, feel free to share more details, and I can provide more tailored advice.
