Galaxy S24

I purchased a Galaxy S24 Ultra and previously had a Note 20 Ultra. While waiting for the S24 to come in, I was using a Pixel 4, and RCS texting between iPhone users worked perfectly fine.

Upon switching to my Galaxy 24 Ultra (I can't remember if it worked before I installed 2 updates on the phone when I received it), the RCS refuses to send messages (without having to tap the message long and select send as SMS) to anyone who isn't using an Android.

The strange thing is, If someone on an iPhone sends me a message, it will send it as if it were an RCS message,  but the moment I go to send it will say "Waiting for user to come online"

It will constantly change from RCS chat to SMS chat.

I'm not sure if this is because I updated the phone, or maybe it has something to do with my Pixel using RCS?

Anyway, I've tried resetting RCS, reinstalling messages, opted out of beta, reset my phone, nothing works.
I've contacted AT&T but they didn't really help much, and at this point I'm not sure if it's my phone, or something else.

If anyone has any suggestions, or have experienced this issue, Id appreciate any help.

Thank you!

Might depend on your carrier, for me I'm able to use RCS since i use Xfinity Mobile with my base model Galaxy S24

The Pixel shouldn't have affected anything. If you are in the US, older Samsungs came with Samsung Messages as mandatory and default, but you could switch to Google Messages or (which came pre-installed but could be removed. The newer phones just switched over to Google Messages. My new S24 Ultra doesn't even have Samsung Messages on it.

If you have Facebook Messenger or Signal set up as your default text app, I highly recommend using Google Messages and learning that app. It not only allows you to use RCS through whatever standards your carrier has adopted, but has all of RCS natively. It's aiming to be the new iMessage for Android phones.

I use Google messenger as my default messager for all of my previous phones. I never use the stock ones.

Well, the Pixel would have Google Messages stock, as does your S24 Ultra. Your S21 would have had Samsung Messages stock, and you would have had to make a switch to Google Messages on your own.

Anyway, my S24 Ultra running Google Message talks to iPhones on iMessage fine. So if that's what you're running, it's something unique to your phone. I'd try reinstalling your chat app and make sure all your settings are like you want them.

I just find it weird that it also refuses to work on my other phone after I tried it again. It makes me believe it's possibly my sim card that is damaged. Before I changed phones, my note 20 ultra got some water damage and had to be repaired. Maybe it's that?
