Use phone as toolbar not working

I'm using samsung notes on a galaxy tablet s9. I'm attempting to use the feature "use phone as a toolbar" to use my s24 ultra as a toolbar.

The button is there but, when I press the button, the notes app freezes, and the phone flickers, and then nothing happens. Eventually the notes app will say that it failed to connect.

Any ideas?

Are you in dark mode? I don't know about this but watched a video about it on YouTube saying to be in light color mode.

First, reboot your modem once it's fully booted up. Reboot your router now. Make sure the tablet and phone have the latest updates app and phone software. Then make sure they are on the same Wi-Fi network and channel either 2.4 or 5ghz. Hopefully, it will now work properly

Same issue. I can actually see a window come up on my phone but it immediately goes away.

Just tried disabling dark mode on both phone and tablet and it worked. It doesn't make sense to me, but just tried it.
