Work Profile Not Installing Correctly

I'm having trouble getting the Work Profile to install correctly so that I can have separate apps for personal and work. On my S23 Ultra, I had no issues installing the Work Profile.

On my S24 Ultra, the set up seems to crash in mid set up. I go to Accounts and try to add a new Google Account (work account). I type in my work's email address, after which I'm prompted to login to my work account using my user name and password. Instead of the OS proceeding to install all necessary apps and settings to create a Work Profile, the set up just abruptly ends and I'm back on my home screen. No error pops up at all, I'm just sent to the home screen.

When I check to see if the work profile installed, I can see it did not because the process normally includes installing Work Profile apps like Gmail, Drive, Calendar etc. If the Work Profile did install as normal, I should be able to go in the Settings, then Apps, to see all currently installed Work Profile related apps. In addition, all of the icons should have a small briefcase icon to indicate they are Work Profile apps. No such profile or apps exist.

It does not seem that anyone else has posted about this so I'm not sure what I can do.

I have finally resolve the issue I was having!! After reading a few mentions of an app called Island, I decided to go ahead and give it a shot because nothing was working. Here's the link if you need to know:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.island&hl=en_US&gl=US

This app triggers the installation of the Work Profile. It installs all things necessary to set it all up, it proceeded past the point where my S24 Ultra would just crash to the Home Screen. Instead of crashing, it continued installing and setting up my phone.

I logged into my work account, accepting the login with my work's two factor authentication app. I'm currently installing all of my work apps as I type this message. I couldn't be happier!! The Island app is currently in beta, if it ever comes out of beta, I plan on purchasing it just to give the dev support to resolving my issue.

I would like to thank @MobileMcPhoneface for at least trying to lend a hand. Your help made me not want to quit until I resolved my problem. Thank you.

So it begs the question, did Samsung remove the Work Profile? Is that why I couldn't get it to install like I did on my S23 Ultra? Don't know but it sure seems likely. Thank you

Hi,

This has been an issue for me since OneUI 5.1.  I had posted a solution that worked for me here on the forums back in October and somehow, it ended up archived already.

I am awaiting a response from @SamsungJoJo to see if it can be un-archived...

https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Samsung-Apps-and-Services/Unarchive-post-request-from-October-20...

@Rydah suggested using Oasis Island to create a work profile which generates a "Cannot add work profile Contact your IT admin for help" error message on my S24+.

I'm curious to see what you did to get it to work, hopefully your request to unarchived is granted. I have also contact my IT department to see if they have any suggestions but I have yet to hear back.

Hey @SamsungModerator1  - thank you!

Update edit: after letting the phone sit overnight, the Work Apps folder appeared and the default O365 apps were available.

Unfortunately, what I documented and worked in One UI 5.1 and 6.0 on my S23+ to force creation of the Work folder/container as part of Microsoft Company Profile (Intune) install isn't successful with 6.1.

I've tried removing and re-creating my profile with the different Microsoft apps (Company Portal and the older Intune app), using Oasis Island among other things as well (reboots in between too) and haven't had success.

This is something that will prevent me from keeping S24+ if it can't be resolved. Happy to try other suggestions in hopes of sorting out a solution.

Thanks again.

@GatoL0c0 - the folder did not appear for hours but finally it's there with the default O365 app icons.

After leaving the phone sitting overnight, I noticed the Work folder was there this morning. Just took way longer than I expected (or experienced with S23+).

Not sure what Android settings our Admin uses on the Intune portal but I can check if that would be helpful.

I appreciate your follow-up. I'm going to have to try again when I return to work. I reset my phone because I discovered another issue. My overnight phone backups to my Google account weren't running. Not even if I tried manually. After wiping my phone, Google backups is running normally. Unfortunately, since my work uses two factor authentication, I'll have to wait until I return to work to contact my IT dept and request access to the authentication app. I'm hoping the weird error with Google backups is related to the errors I was experiencing with the Work Profile setup. I report back once I'm able to try again.

Hello,

Is the Work Profile available in the new S24 Ultra?  If so, how can I get to it?

Hi,

The Work Profile container is created as part of Microsoft Company Profile (Intune) installation. It took 12+ hours for the Work folder to appear on my S24+ for some reason...

Unfortunately, the installation of the Work Profile is still not working. Not sure what to do at this point.
