Galaxy S25Device care optimization has nothing to do with backups. So, I don't know why you get a message saying your backup will be lost. It may have said, "your phone needs to restart, save your work or you will lose it". The only device care message I get for optimization is when the phone thinks it needs to fix something it throws out a warning that the phone needs to restart to optimize. You should set auto optimization to restart your phone at least once a week at a time when you are not likely to be using it, and not during sleep if you track your sleep. You phone will restart automatically at that time (give or take a half hour). You can also set it to restart when needed, but that will interrupt you more often. If you set it to restart on a schedule, you are less like to get that warning message unless the phone detects and urgent need for optimization. Your phone needs to be restarted periodically (whether you do it automatically or manually) in order to clear out the memory and other remnants to keep things running smoothly. Oh, and next time you see a message of any kind appear on your screen, try to read the whole thing first before panicking and tapping any options.

said it will come up in a few days i have discovered when i went into device care battery that device care is unrestricted i see option optimized and restricted<-however i can't change it to any of the options
boy howdy i don't know what to do i hope it will come up i don't know if i need to clear data in storage device care or what
if i would had said optimized past sun night it would had come up device care in apps when i click on battery meh
it actually saying that both optimized and restricted is grey out only unrestricted is bubble in because i said not now past sun night
maybe i should had left that window open battery icon after i said not now i could had selected to optmize instead swiping and closing it

Galaxy S25Try resetting the app settings. To do this go to Settings>General Management>Reset>Reset app settings. It should only reset the settings for apps and not your data.

Galaxy S25That screen you are showing is for a specific app. Each app requires battery usage permissions. Some cannot be restricted or your phone will not work properly. Backup is on one of them. You can turn off background battery use for unnecessary apps, but backup is necessary - especially if you are on auto backup. I don't know which app you were using or installed when it asked you to change your optimization settings to unrestricted, but you can go back and change it. Device care itself needs to be unrestricted, or it cannot perform its activities. The optimization closes some apps running in the background or puts unused/rarely used apps to sleep. Keeping certain apps unrestricted allows them to work properly, as they should not be closed or put to sleep. I hope this helps you understand better.
If you go to the Device care settings, and select auto optimization, you can choose to have your phone restarted when necessary or on a schedule. In order for your phone to work properly and clear out the memory, the phone needs to be restarted at least once a week. You can do this manually or set the schedule. What probably happened, is Device care told you the phone needed to be restarted to be optimized and asked if you wanted to do it at that time. You said not now, so it went away an it will come back up in about a week, or sooner if the phone really needs to be optimized. You did nothing wrong by dismissing it. You just delayed it and it didn't harm anything.
Next time a message pops up on your screen, don't panic, take the time to read what it says, and act accordingly.
