Accessing Gemini Assistant

The Samsung Galaxy S25 with One UI 7 abandoned the corner edge swipe to activate assistant. Instead now opting to use the power button as the only means to activate assistant. This was a terrible choice. I'm confident I am not the only one who doesn't want to use the power button to activate the assistant and be forced to hold in the power and volume down to turn their devices off. Samsung bring back the option to edge swipe for assistant in the display navigation menu. This should never have been removed.

Making edit so this post can be seen again:

The solution to power off device via the optional quick settings panel is not relevant. In fact, it completely negates the point of the physical buttons on S25 series. If people want to use the power button as the assistant toggle, that's great! However, not everyone wants to. Nor do people want to use the on screen power button option.

Please do not suggest the on screen power button as a solution, because it 100% is not.

The solution for this issue is for Samsung to reintegrate the corner swipe to engage Gemini assistant. It's all about giving the users options to interact with the device however they want. Not being arbitrarily limited.

Please upvote this post so Samsung software engineers will see it. Thank you!

I 100% agree with you and understand this need. Yes, I used to swipe up from bottom corner to access Google Assistant and it no longer works and there is no option to turn it back on. And like you, I don't want to use the power button for this. I want this option back!!!

I'm loving the new phone and update currently using the S25 Ultra. I just really miss activating Gemini from the outer corners of the screen swiping inward and I keep getting a small bug or sometimes my notifications will appear in the middle of my screen. Otherwise everything has beenOtherwise everything has been great. But any recommendations for those two things?

You can uninstall and install Gemini again. The other bug might be updated later. I'm happy that you are happy with your new phone :mobile_phone: šŸ˜Š

Have my new unlocked s25 ultra. When I press and hold the power button it launches Google. Lens, not gemini. Can't figure out how to get gemini to launch. I have checked the assistant in setting and it was set to gemini but seems like standard Google assistant is what engages. Anyone have suggestions on what may be causing gemini not to work? I disable and reenabled gemini but no luck

Can you access Gemini by drawing your finger from the bottom (left or right corner) towards center of the screen? This should trigger your Gemini assistant.

I'm curious if you have "good lock" installed with "RegiStar" running. This is an added app that also allows you to re-map your side key. If your phone settings are correct then I guess another app is overriding the settings. 1739475768259.jpg

I've also noticed this is happening on my S25 Ultra as well. Mine will sometimes be Google Assistant and then other times it will be Gemini. I also have it set to Gemini in my settings. I haven't figured it out yet, but will update if I find a solution! I was thinking it had something to do with Android Auto, but haven't done enough tests with it yet.

That's weird. I don't have that issue. Do you have Good Lock installed?

BINGO! Registrar was set to Google Lens. I tried the swipe from lower left and right, that used to work on s24 with 6.1 but doesn't seem to work on one ui 7 at least on my device. Have to launch the circle to search

Thanks
