I have an annoying problem with my Galaxy Watch4, for some reason it now adds extra steps in activating Sleep Mode. Before (and my wife's watch4 does it this way), swiping down from the top of the watch screen and pressing the Modes button would activate Sleep mode. Now, I need to select Modes, then select the only option in Modes, which is Sleep, then I have to wait for a small animation of the sun setting over a bed. If I move my wrist during this animation, then the mode switching gets cancelled. Oftentimes I only find that the setting has not taken effect when my screen wakes up and then wakes me up.

I have tried deleting all other modes (like Theater) so there is only Sleep, but I still need to go through the same multi-step process to activate Sleep. My Wife only presses Modes and Sleep is activated immediately.

How do I make the required changes to be able to activate Sleep quickly?

It's been that way for at least a year. As (if) you add additional modes, they will appear along with sleep mode. Apparently, right now you only have sleep mode configured. Even though you currently have only one mode, it would still be under the mode umbrella. I have no idea why your wife's hadn't switched. Are you both running the same OneUI version? Do either of you have modes synced with phone? Seriously, it's such a hardship to use an extra tap and then wait for the mode to continue activating? You can always try adding the mode widget to the phone and activate sleep mode from the phone. This would require modes be synced. You can use the single mode widget configured for sleep mode. 1730696385200.jpg

I will add a mode widget as you recommend. I only have one Mode set up, so it is not hard to do.

The annoyance was mostly around the animation - if it does not finish, then the setting does not take effect and it will wake me up at a random time in the night if I move and if I have not watched the animation complete. It is also annoying that it worked that way before, and I would like to go back to that way.

I was annoyed when the change took place, now it doesn't bother me (it does bother me that it no longer activates instantly--I don't know when that happened, but it was recent) and it does make sense to have it that way. They used to have two modes on the watch listed separately, sleep and theater. They combined them under the mode umbrella either with OneUI 5.0 on the watch or 6.0 on the phone or at whichever point they added the sync modes with phone setting. Both happened simultaneously for me when I switched phones. Currently I use 3 modes, sleep, theater, and a custom "quiet" mode. Being able to activate any of them from the watch is convenient and instead of having 3 different icons to locate on the watch, having one icon with the modes makes more sense.
