I use Watch Ultra for recording workout activities which syncs to Samsung Health app. Samsung Health activity data is then synced to Strava using the native integration. However I have noticed that the Strava does not use the elevation data recorded by the watch and raised a support ticket with Strava to understand the reason. Please see the response below:

"Unfortunately, at this time, Samsung Health does not pass any device-related data in the TCX files that they pass to Strava. Due to the wide variety of devices that can record activities to Samsung Health, we cannot add this application to our trusted device database. Due to the negative impact that those other devices that do not have vetted barometric data on Strava we simply are not able to provide the a blanket trusted status to all activities from Samsung Health and we have opted instead to map Samsung devices that we have verified data from on a case by case basis.

Please note that if you record your activities on your Samsung watch using the Strava watch app for Wear OS devices then we can use the native recorded elevation data directly from the file because we have specifically mapped the Samsung Watch Ultra as well as a majority of other Samsung brand watches that are on One UI6 or Wear OS 3 and higher"

The crux of the issue is the missing device information in the API provided by Samsung Health app. So my request to the Health App team is to enhance the API to provide the device identifier so that Strava can utilize the natively recorded elevation and distance information for an overall better user experience
