Mute notifications on phone - stays muted when I take off my watch

Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy S22 (A13), using the Galaxy Wearable app. I have the "Mute notifications on phone" setting enabled and the description of this setting is:

Phone notifications allowed on your watch will be muted on your phone when you're wearing your watch.

However I find that all notifications on the phone are muted, and remain muted even if I take my watch off and put it on the charger. If I power the watch off entirely or put it into airplane mode, then phone notifications will sound again.

I've had this watch for a few months and it was the same behavior on both A12 and A13. Is this a known issue?

Thank you for reaching out. I can certainly understand your frustration with your watch notifications remaining muted after taking the watch off your wrist and I would be happy to look into this further for you.

 

First step would be to verify all the software is up to date on your Galaxy watch 5 and S22. 

 

Next step would be to clear the cache for your Galaxy wearables app. Give these steps a try: go to settings on the phone > apps > tap on Galaxy wearables > tap on storage and clear the cache

 

After clearing the cache I would recommend uninstalling and re-installing the galaxy wearables app. Please know this will reset your watch. I would recommend testing the watch prior to restoring from back up to make sure no software is causing a conflict.
