No longer usable

I have a Galaxy Gear 2 watch. It has been an amazing watch since I got it. I recently traded in my Note20 for a S24 ultra and tried to pair the watch to it. A notification popped up saying that the Gear 2 will no longer connect to phones after 2024. Since my new phone is still a 2024, why won't my watch connect to it? Anyone have any suggestions?
