S Pay on watch different than on phone?

I'm trying to start using using s-pay, so I loaded it on my phone and set it up with a card. Then I loaded it on my galaxy watch and I had to setup again.

This seemed confusing. are they two different things? Can I delete the one on my phone and it will stay on my watch?

i believe you can have it on your watch separate from your phone. as long as you don't delete it from the Galaxy wearable app it should stay on your watch.
