Recently, I saw that the One UI 6.0 for the Watch4 came out, so I decided to install it. But there were no updates. Last time it updated was in April, and, I suppose there was supposed to be at most a singular patch within the span of 7 months. I talked to a Samsung representative about this and they said to give it a go and factory reset it (I have a proper functioning backup as of 12/25/2024) so when I reset and came to set it back up, it bricked itself. The device refused to function, even when the process was completed, it failed due to issues that it refused to state. It functions like it's a device I own, being able to access diagnostic info from Members but not being able to access it from Wearable. It's a brick now, a fat one at that. The watch's functionality is little to none, so, I'm stumped here. I'd rather get some info from more informative people rather than a Samsung representative that has the most NPC responses.

Since you've factory reset the watch, I believe that you need to treat it as a new device on the Wear (Wearable) app and add it there. Of course, it will not transfer your old data to your 'new' device. I've reset my watch once and I think this is what happened to me as a result, but it was more than two years ago. Perhaps you should wait for input from others regarding your issue before adding it back to the Wear app.

I have also tried this to no avail. It keeps acting like a brick, and always gets stuck on the Google part. And even if I did skip it, it refused to act like a "new" device and it just flat out died. I'll report back if recovery mode has some useful options.

If you have 2FA on your Google account, as one should IMHO, you may need to remove it long enough to complete the task.

Just a passkey. 2FA is for alternative methods and even if I do remove it my authenticator gets all pissy and refuses to work.

I think then the passkey is the issue that is causing the progress to hang. Suggest removing the requirement for it's use temporarily.

Have you rebooting it ? My old Galaxy 4 started doing that. Hold both the side buttons down, together at the same time. Keep holding till it says "rebooting". It was a temporary fix for me, but eventually I just upgraded to the watch 6 classic and no issues so far !

Unfortunately, I have done an ungodly amount of reboots and factory resets, so, this didn't work from the start.

Looks like the data can be restored if you backed up your device to Samsung Cloud service before resetting it.

It always backs up in the middle of the night of some odd reason. I have no important data on there anyway; I just need a functional watch that operates enough to tell time.
