No sound through soundbar while using apps

Just purchased a un50tu8000 tv and connected a RIF6 sound bar.  The sound bar works fine with the tv on the cable but no sound comes from it if i go to one of the apps, like Netflix, utube, primevideo and etc..  Have used a HDMI arc cable and connection is as shown in the manual.  Don't understand why it works with the cable but not with the apps any help appreciated.

I would recommend trying a different HDMI cable or changing the sound settings on the sound bar.

Also, please make sure that you have the latest firmware version on the television.

Go to Menu>Support>Software Update.

I am having the same issue, and none of those solutions worked. Anything else? Also, my soundbar disconnects from the TV all the time. It's annoying to unplug and plug it back in (the 'solution' that I was given) every time I use the TV. Samsung TV and soundbar, by the way. Please advise.
