Now going into week 3 with no refrigerator. Purchased my Samsung Bespoke refrig from Best Buy 2 1/2 years ago and have loved it. Has a lot of great features and never gave me a single issue until 3 weeks ago. All of the sudden, the refrig just died, totally stopped cooling. My 12 month warranty is up but the refrig comes with a 5 year warranty on the compressor. As long as it was the compressor that failed, which at that time based on where the troubleshooting guide led me it was the conpressor, i could dodge a $3000 bullet and get it fixed for free. Great i thought, until i had to deal with samsung repair services.
Just to keep it short, i have been on the phone with Samsung support at least 8 times, with each time being roughly 30 minutes long. I have also been on the phone with the Samsung repair services which is a different division of Samsung snother 4 times. I have had now 4 fifferent visits from Samsung repair services. The first time they visited i had to pay $140 just for the repairman to show up and see if it was the compressor that had failed. After that initial visit, they sent another repairman out to replace the compressor. The person that came to replace it, although he was very nice, was inexperienced to this type of repair and had to call his boss several times while making the repair.
He also had trouble trying to solder the new pipes in place and had to come back the next day to finish the repair. He let us know that the new compressor he had just installed might fail, and we would find out within 2 days if it would actally work.
Well, I went out with my kids and wife after he had left, we came back 4 hours later, and I came back to the hazy smoky kitchen.
It seems as if the new compressor had burnt out and left a slight haze in my kitchen and and a very distinct acrid dmell of burnt rubber and electrical parts.
I then called Samsung again and had to wait a whole another week for another repairman to come. Now this person came and said everything looked good. There was just a connection the last guy had forgotten to connect whivh was the reason for the smell and that everything would be running fine. Now, 24 hours later the refrigerator is not cooling at all and the compressor is making a loud whining sound. So here I am with my family of 4 without a working refrigerator for 3 weeks, I lost roughly 3 to $400 worth of food. Had to pay Samung $140 for the initial visit and had to go out and buy a mini fridge so I at least have the ability to cool some food for another $200. All of this for a 2 and a 1/2-year-old refrigerator that, according to Samsung, it's still covered by a 5 year warranty on the compressor.
I honestly think they just want the customer to give up and buy a new refrigerator and not pursue it.
I have been purchasing Samsung products for years, every cell phone I've owned the last 10 years has been the Samsung phone. Every T. V in my home is Samsung. I've always loved the Samsung products. Which is why I was happy to buy a Samsung refrigerator. Needless to say this is changing my perception of Samsung. When talking to Samsung warranty support, they've always been very nice on the phone so I can't get on them, but I will say their separate division, samsung repair center has been horrible. The people I've talked to, except for that one repairman that did try to replace the compressor, has been rude or short with us. On top of that, when the repair center let's you know of the scheduled date, they only give you a day of when repairmen will be there. They do not even give you a time window.
So that means you have to stay home all day for when the repairman is going to show up? I have now missed 4 days of work because of this. They only call you the morning of to let you know when they're going to be there during the day and actually on this last visit the guy didn't even call until he was about 45 minutes away and didn't show up until about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. So when you add that up, that's almost a week's worth of wages lost as well. I am pretty much at my end when it comes to samsung.
