Kitchen and Family HubThis refrigerator-freezer (RF) was purchased in September of 2012 and has had no previous issues. Recently, the RF began making very loud humming noises and fan noises. Fan noises (bearing?) would stop when the freezer drawer was opened and restart when it was closed. I pulled the RF away from the wall and vacuumed the coils; they were heavily covered with dust and fuzz. No apparent damage or wet areas. After about an hour, I put it back and plugged it in. Issues remained but I left it running to settle down. After a few hours, the loud fan noises disappeared and the humming was less loud. Placed remote access temperature gauges in the freezer compartment and the refrigerator compartment. Set temperature to 6 degrees and 38 degrees respectively. In the freezer compartment, over 12-24 hours, the freezer temperature has oscillated between 23.5 degrees and -12.5 degrees, regardless of front panel setting. When the freezer temperature reaches the low, the compressor stops then restarts when temperature reaches about 23 degrees. The refrigerator temperature has stayed at 40 degrees +- 2 degrees. The front panel incorrectly shows the temperature at 8 degrees and 38 degrees; regardless of true internal temperature and regardless of changing the settings. On the last cycle, I heard water running which stopped after less than a minute. Have not heard this before with this RF. There is no evidence of water under or around the RF. The previously working ice-maker in the upper refrigerator compartment has not worked since the cleaning (24+ hours). The freezer compartment ice-maker works without issues. Suggestions?

Kitchen and Family HubHi there, Thanks so much for reaching out about this. I can certainly understand your concern with these issues with your refrigerator. I have a couple links that may be useful based on the symptoms you've described. The first link is to our guide on refrigerator noises. It has detailed information on the causes of different sounds, as well as what steps to take if the noise is an abnormal one. The second link has some troubleshooting steps you can try if the temperatures inside the refrigerator are not right.
1. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01001032/
2. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01001027/
Once these steps are completed, if you are still experiencing these symptoms, the unit will require service. There are a few options here we can take based on your warranty status.
1. You can utilize this link to locate an authorized service center in your area to obtain estimates for repairs: http://www.Samsung.com/us/support/service/location or reach out to any local repair shop.
