I have a UN60KS8000F and connected a Roku StreamBar Pro to the OneConnect.  Everything worked great for a few months.  Now when I power on the TV, the Roku home screen comes on for a few seconds and then the screen goes black. Then it is back for a shorter amount of time and then off again. After three or four flashes it is just a black screen.  I have to unplug the roku from the wall and plug it back in and it will reboot and work fine.  It happens every time i turn on the tv.  I have done a factory reset on the roku a couple times. I have moved the roku to a different tv and it works fine. I assume the roku devices never really power off and just go into sleep mode but something seems to be acting up with my OneConnect hdmi connection, i am guessing.  Any ideas?

Hi,

In Roku settings there should be an option for CEC, which is a protocol that allows for TV control from within the Roku (power tv on and off, change volume). Try toggling that off from your other TV and see if it works. Other than that I'm not entirely sure what could be wrong.

The issue youā€™re experiencing could indeed be linked to the HDMI handshake between the Roku StreamBar Pro and the Samsung OneConnect box. Here are some possible solutions:

1. HDMI Cable and Port: Since HDMI handshake issues can cause black screens or flickering, try swapping the HDMI cable to a high-speed version if possible. Alternatively, connect the Roku to a different HDMI port on the OneConnect box to see if this stabilizes the connection.

2. HDMI-CEC (Anynet+) Settings: Anynet+ (Samsungā€™s HDMI-CEC feature) could be affecting the connection. You can either disable it entirely to see if that prevents the black screen or try enabling it if itā€™s currently off. Go to Settings > General > External Device Manager > Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).

3. Update TV and Roku Firmware: Ensure both your TV and Roku have the latest firmware. For the TV, go to Settings > Support > Software Update. This can sometimes fix issues related to HDMI connectivity.

4. Power Cycle the TV and Roku: Power cycle both the TV and the Roku. Unplug both devices from power for a few minutes, then plug them back in. This can sometimes reset HDMI communication issues.

5. HDMI-CEC on the Roku: Roku devices also have HDMI-CEC settings. On your Roku, go to Settings > System > Control other devices (CEC) and enable or disable options here to test if this impacts the connectivity with the OneConnect.

6. Adjust Roku Display Settings: If your Roku is set to auto-adjust display settings, try setting it to a fixed resolution. Go to Settings > Display type on the Roku and select a fixed resolution (like 1080p or 4K) to see if this prevents the black screen issue.

If none of these suggestions help, there could be a compatibility or hardware issue with the OneConnect box. Contacting Samsung Support may provide additional guidance, as they might be aware of specific compatibility fixes or updates for the UN60KS8000F model.
