I have a Samsung 8000 Series TV and a Samsung HW N400 Sound Bar.
Some of the time, not every time, when I turn on the TV, or if it goes to sleep and I awaken it, both the sound bar and TV speaker come on. I am using Optical Input for the sound bar. If I turn the sound bar off and back on, the TV speaker goes off and the sound resumes normally through the sound bar.
The only option I have in Settings is called Sound Output with a radio button choice for either TV speaker or Sound Bar. Not both, nor an option to just turn off the TV speaker. The Settings 'Sound Output' recognizes my Sound Bar as the correct N400 type.
