I recently bought a monitor mount for two of my monitors and for some reason when i tried to screw the vesa plate on my C27FG70FQ, it did not work. What plate should i get? i am not attaching it to my wall.

I believe you need to attach the Samsung wall bracket in order to mount the vesa bracket.
Consult your User Manual.

This is correct. You will need the monitor's Wall Bracket to attach the required 75x75 VESA standard mount.
