I have a Samsung JU6500 which has been pulling it's weight since 2015. I noticed something today that I don't quite understand and was wondering if anyone might have some insight. I got an Walmart .onn 4k streaming box to use as a bit of hardware to run Moonlight (game streaming app).

So I hook it up to a free HDMI slot and all seems to be going well. What I then noticed is that no matter what I set my TVs backlight setting on for the particular source (HDMI slot) this device is plugged into, it keeps getting jacked up to the max (20) every time I switch from that HMDI source to another or / turn the TV off, etc.

It doesn't do this for any of my other devices (Roku 4k box, Switch even an old Steam Link box). I've tried a couple different HDMI ports but no luck. All other settings seem to stick but for some reason it just loves to jack the backlight up to 20 and blind me. ECO is turned OFF so it's not that. I can't for the life of me figure this out.

In tv settings Check that HDMI, CEC and HDMI plus is set to on. When you are using the box go into your tv settings and set them like you want and then the key is to save those settings to apply picture settings to current source (not all sources) and you should be good 😉 20230721_191557_1000011788_1689992157.jpg
