Projectors & Other TVsHow do you turn off the auto-detect HDMI feature? Sometimes my Apple TV comes on and then the TV automatically turns on as well but I don't want the TV to do so. How do you turn off this feature?
Thanks,
Mark

Projectors & Other TVsby cheap, manual HDMI Switch you mean :
- No 4K
- you have to manualy change source on the switch (unless you don't have other device connected to the switch)

I don't have to worry about 4k, the 4k is in the TV tuner, I don't have any games consoles etc.
By manual I mean I literally have to physically a port by pressing a switch. I did that by choice because I didn't want to spend big bucks on an automatic switch, or one with remote control being uncertain whether it would work or not. With hindsight that would probably have worked but I don't need to change very often so it isn't an issue for me.
A 4k hdmi switch would be considerably more than I paid and was not necessary for my setup

Projectors & Other TVsit's a good workaroud . At this time we are still hopping Samsung will release a fix and there is no reason to put extra money to fix that.

I totally agree, but it was worth a tenner and a bit to avoid the interference to our viewing. I most certainly would not have the spent the £100 or so for a more expensive switch, and I totally agree that it's Samsung's responsibility to come up with a permanent fix. Even an OFF setting that worked would be acceptable

Projectors & Other TVsI would be 100% fine with an Off setting so that I had to manually switch to my device of choice. An option that simply ignores everything but your remote. This would fix virtually all of my issues...of which I have many. I don't understand why this wasn't something Samsung didn't think about while developing this software as it's a common use case. I mean, even hitting a download button on a web page while I'm at work for the latest PS+ game on PSN for my PS4 will cause my TV at home to switch sources to my PS4. How did a simple and normal use case like that get through the planning stage at Samsung? And then not accounting for devices sending out consisist signals like some devices do (some PC's, the Nintendo Switch among others) as if there could never be a problem like that. Again, how does that even get through the planning phase?
I work in software development for a living and I know all about feature planning and potential use cases and something like that would have never made it through the planning stage let alone the development/testing stage and then release and then post-release like this "feature" has for 2016 Samsung TV's. It simply does not make any sense.

Projectors & Other TVsSamsung seem to be in meltdown these days. THe quality of many of their products has nose dived, even the ones that don't catch fire. I suspect that their desire to be more clever than the competition has caused them to lose sight of what is truly important. Customer Service for one?

Projectors & Other TVsI dont want to jinx myself, but for what its worth, my TV has been working like it is supposed to since I updated it the other day. I have a PS4, along with other devices all hooked up to my Denon receiver, with one HDMI going from receiver to TV. I have already detailed the problems in previous posts, and have shared my experiences with Samsung Customer Service. Anyways, I purchased a powered HDMI switch, but this did not solve the problem. I called Samsung, and they informed me to update the TV, and turn off Anynet+ on the TV. I did those things, and unplugged the TV for 30 seconds. Since I did that about 3 days ago, my TV has not switched to the other sources once. Previously it was switching to the other source about every 15 minutes. I have taken the switch out of the equation to see if this would have any effect, and to this point has not made a difference. Not sure if it was the update, or turning off Anynet+, or my TV just decided to work correctly on its own, but its working!!!!!!
Knock on wood!
I will be sure to report if it does start switching again.

Projectors & Other TVsI have a Sonos Soundbar hooked up to my TV. I thought turning off Anynet+ would not allow the TV remote to control the soundbar level.
Do you have a soundbar with your setup?

Projectors & Other TVs@Amerika Totally agree. It would also be great to have a row of small dedicated buttons on the remote to instantly switch to HDMI 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
While we're at it, why not have 2 buttons for speakers 1 and 2!
For those who like surprises, the buttons could be disabled, and the automatic surprise could be turned on in the settings.
Here's hoping for a fair and usable solution to these issues!
