How do you turn off the auto-detect HDMI feature? Sometimes my Apple TV comes on and then the TV automatically turns on as well but I don't want the TV to do so. How do you turn off this feature?

Thanks,

Mark

This is terrible, I'm going to go ahead and return the TV.  I have been a Samsung person for years, phones, 4 TVs,  Surround Sound, Microwave, Refrigerator, Dishwasher.  My wife gets super pissed every time it switches in the middle of a movie or TV show.  We bought a Nintendo Switch and it changes the source automatically sometimes multiple times in a minute.  This will be the first Sony I have purchased since college.

Yes!! Thank you. It was doing some crazy stuff when deleted Apple TV and my Xbox one x from universal remote. Now I can see info when I push center button. Also it was getting confused on which source I had it on and not engaging FreeSync on my Xbox automatically. When I would look at info when on Xbox source it would show Apple TV source info. I think that universal remote thing is buggering lots of things up. At least I hope. My TV is only three days old. Sending it back if this don’t work. 55UN8000 firmware 1153.1

BTW this TV is a insurance replacement.  Other samsung TV went half dark after 2 years. I’m getting frustrated with Samsung.

Any update on this? I just bought a Samsung 75" Q6, and this "Detecting Device" and automatic input switching is driving me nuts. Every time I power on my PC, my TV is disabled while it transitions to the Detective Device screen, and you can imagine this is pretty frustrating when the wife and kid are trying to watch TV or play XBOX.

I'm going to return the TV if there is no solution for this. Would like to know while I'm within return period.

How much did you pay on that large TV? Why not buy a HDMI switch for 50 bucks extra?

Driving back to the TV-shop costs you more...see my post on page 4 from 2017...

Hey Sam,

Best Buy can come out and pick it up while they deliver the Vizio or Sony I'm exchanging for. I can't believe this has been a lingering issue since 2016 with no fix. I should have read these forums before I made the purchase.

Just bought a brand new Q9FNA. $3000 for this thing. Will be returning this week and getting a LG instead.  This ‘feature’ makes the TV worth nothing and is incredible frustration. Samsung you did us and your company wrong.

I own a 65" Q7FN and the issue remains solid: if i turn off my tv the sound setting goes back to tv speakers and my AV receiver does not turn on. It seems Samsung wants to convince me their sound system is better than mey Yamaha AV receiver. Samsung, I have news for you: it is not. Please, provide a fix for this. Regards.

I also have a Yamaha. i don't mind too much if it doesn't turn on the receiver. I can  pick up both remotes if need be when i switch on.

I think  for me the 1260.6 update doesn't turn on the receiver at all. It only shuts it down when i turn the TV off.

This update seems  like a slight improvement.

I'd say it seems to keep the HDMI tile pinned to the smart bar, if only  most of the time. Doesn't autodetect as much but still occasionally if you change input on the reciever while you watching the Netflix app on the TV for example. TV thinks the receiver is disconnected/replaced, autodetect and unmount tile from smart bar... And frustration starts all over again.
