How do you turn off the auto-detect HDMI feature? Sometimes my Apple TV comes on and then the TV automatically turns on as well but I don't want the TV to do so. How do you turn off this feature?
I think I can offer some help here. I own a KS8000.
First, this is happening with the Switch because of an OS bug that is occasionally sending a signal when it's in sleep mode.
You can can completely shut off the Switch by holding down the power button on the top of the Switch unit. Select power options", and then "turn off". If you do this the signal problem is gone. It's a little annoying to have to walk up to the Switch to do this, but it is a temporary solution to this problem. Keep in mind you will then have to go press that same power button to turn on the Switch again. Controllers won't turn it on if the console or completely turned off.
I'm assuming Nintendo will fix the sleep mode issue in a future update.
There is also an option in the Switch settings, under tv settings. Turn off "Match tv power state". This might also help in making this problem less annoying in the future.
Lastly, regarding your Samsung tv. There is an option under it's settings. Under "system" there is "expert settings". Turn off "anynet+". I believe this feature has something to do with devices connected and sending signals through HDMI. I turned this off months ago and it seems dramatically less common that a device changes my HDMI input for me, although it does still happen occasionally.

I thank you for your contribution, butbthis issue is driving me mad, and I don't even own a Nintendo Switch. I do, however, own an HDMI switch and either Samsung's magic is somehow defeating the switch or the switch is defective in some way.
Additionally, even with Anynet+ rurned OFF on every device I own, Samsung's magic still manages to turn the TV over to a blank screen every time my PVR comes out of its dormant state to record something
As I explained, turning off anynet lessened the problem for me. Not eliminated it. My PS4 and XB1 no longer change the inputs like they used to.
No, I understand that and I thank you. My issue is simply this:- If Anynet+ is turned OFF on every device why does the TV still change source when my PVR wakes up? Samsung - surely THIS IS A FAULT? If I have opted to turn it off and it 'ignores' my preferences surely that constitutes a Fault not a Feature?

Shutting off the power to the Switch as you described does not resolve the issue. It will come back within a couple of hours. I've tested this myself multiple times. I do believe it's a Switch bug but it's also only being caused because Samsung removed control of this feature and apparently does not have meetings about typical use-case scenarios customers might find themselves in.
Turning off Match TV Power State does nothing at all for this issue. However, I'd wager this is where the bug is coming from (the Switch constantly contacting the TV to see if it's on). However, changing the setting doesn't seem to do much.
Turning off anynet+ also does nothing. I've had it on and off so I don't even know what that setting is supposed to do. It's so generic and the features from previous TV models were ripped out.
This is a Nintendo Switch bug but the problem is still in Samsung's court for even letting this happen. I personally do not want to turn on a device and immediately have my source switch. I want my console to boot up and be ready for when I want to play. Or in the case of my WiiU I just want to play on the gamepad yet my source switches every time. These customer use-case scenarios should have been sussed out in the planning phase. Especially when we're talking about $2000+ pieces of equipment.
Thanks for trying to help! But, sadly, I can confirm, at least with my setup, that none of that works right now. The best solution is power the Switch on and set the sleep timer to it's highest possible value. Or simply undock it and play it in portable mode like I've been doing.
I have tweeted Samsung support with Nintendo of America tagged and a link to this thread...but they have yet to respond. I hope all of you tweet them as well from my thread so they see this is a bigger issue than they realize.
I think this will definitely pop up on Samsung's radar ... hopefully. Right now the switch is only in the households of those who where lucky enough to get a pre-order. But as the system becomes more widely distributed, this problem will become more widespread. Basically everyone who owns a ks series Samsung tv and a Nintendo switch will have this issue. Hoping Samsung will pull their head out of the sand and step up to help their customers who paid big bucks for a top of the line tv.

As long as we don't loose sight that this is the AUTO-DETECT HDMI issue we're trying to get resolved, and not a problem with Nintendo Switches. The Samsung auto-detect HDMI is a pre-existing condition which is a aggravation to all users not just those that just bought a new Nintendo Switch. Maybe a new topic that highlights the fact that Nintendo Switch doesn't play well with a Samsung TV and identify the problem as a feature of their recently purchased Samsung TV's.

A+ on satire! Sadly, it's not a "few extra bucks". If you want a 4 port HDMI switch that actually works at 4k 60hz and supports HDCP standards correctly (and isn't faux support like quite a few have) you're going to be putting down a lot more money. I just bought one for $60 since I needed more HDMI ports anyway but I also have a PS4 Pro and a PC which can output 4k/60hz so I can't just go with an 1080p HDMI switch for all of my devices 😞
