Projectors & Other TVsHow do you turn off the auto-detect HDMI feature? Sometimes my Apple TV comes on and then the TV automatically turns on as well but I don't want the TV to do so. How do you turn off this feature?
Thanks,
Mark

Projectors & Other TVsYou should be able to go to the Download Centre for your local Samsung website, enter your TV model number and download the latest update. OTA is a waste of time, never seems to happen here.

Projectors & Other TVsGreat fix. I had same issue with PS3 and by following the steps below I was able to disable auto detect.
One note: I also saw a tiny message when I timed the sequence right. You have to do the sequence rather quickly for the toggle to take. As for speculation on where the person who initially posted this fix found it, my guess is by analyzing the firmware. We may never know but belated thank you for finding and posting the fix.

HDMI AUTO DETECT TOGGLE
The HDMI Auto Detect feature can be turned off on Samsung 2016/2017 TVs using the remote control by pressing a certain key sequence (either IR or Bluetooth remote works).
1. Make sure TV is updated to latest firmware version
2. Switch TV to TV source – HDMI may not work with BT Smart remotes. TV source works with either remote
3. Using IR Remote: Mute + 7 + 2 + 9 + Exit
4. Using Smart Control: Mute + Vol Down + Ch Down + Mute
PLEASE NOTE: TV may or may not display any messages after you press the above key combination. This function is a toggle. So if you want to turn HDMI Auto Detect on again, press the same key sequence.

Samsung: When this fix first surfaced (back in July '17 I believe), Samsung stated that this was still a solution in progress, and that it would be added to the Settings Menu when it was prodution ready. Any update on this? It is still not available in Settings Menu. Perhaps if it was, more people would discover a fix to their problems.

Projectors & Other TVsThere has not been any FW updates since Nov. 15 2017. I assume that support for 2016 TV's has ended. I tried out this hidden feature with the remote button combination, but I am not sure if it ever took it and didn't seem to work any different. This problem is still prevalent and the FW is still rather flakey. The auto switching is driving me nuts still, and popups frequently about new HDMI devices being detected driving me up the wall.
Glitches in all kinds ov varieties surface at times like NAS just vanishing and others which only can be resolved with unplugging the unit from power and cold reboot. I had to install the TV in a way to have quick access to the power plug, because you never know when you need it. On top of it the dim display corners in the lower left and right convinced me that this will be my last Samsung TV. I have days where I wish the thing would just quit to justify buying a new TV altogether. The Samsung phones we have are just as nerve racking at times.

Projectors & Other TVsOMG Thank you so much. Just bought this TV a few months ago. This problem made me hate myself for that decision, hated Samsung more. Would have been my last without this fix. I laughed I cried, I almost kissed $3,500 goodbye.
Well ended up getting the black screen should have taken tv in at this time while it was still under warranty. Kissed the money goodbye anyways. 😞

Projectors & Other TVsI tried to apply this "fix" several times and followed the instructions to the "T". I never saw a difference, and neither did it have any influence on the function. Nothing ever changed.

Projectors & Other TVsI have this problem too - Watching Cable TV and without warning TV switches to Playstation (which is powered off).
Has anyone from Samsung explained why this is happening - the cause?
