How do you turn off the auto-detect HDMI feature? Sometimes my Apple TV comes on and then the TV automatically turns on as well but I don't want the TV to do so. How do you turn off this feature?

Thanks,

Mark

I have posted this thread on the Samsung US page and Samsung Support US Face book pages. Hopefully this thread gets somebody looking at it that will sending up the flag pole quickly.

The Switch is just the first device that might have this same issue. Other devices in the future might also cause your HDMI sources to constantly change. So blaming it on the Switch isn't viable for support as this is not only a quality of life issue but a huge design issue where use cases were not properly outlined before designing the software and removing the option from 2016 models to control this feature.

And while they are there I would like them to allow me to manually setup/name all my HDMI ports myself and not automatically remove them anytime the TV thinks something new is hooked up. That too is INFURIATING as it constantly forgets devices and will reset a lot of your settings.

So does removing it from the dock work 100%? If so I can live with that.

Does this mean another remote for the outboard HDMI switch?  Hmm lets see TV remote, Sound Bar remote, XBOX and PS3 controllers, Xfinity set top box remote,  and now a HDMI switch.   My Harmony remote is way beyond obsolete now.

I got round that dilema by buying a manual switch 😂😂😂😂😂

No not really. It is possible to operate is by means of a remote - I even added it to my Harmony One - but not nessesary. Most switches are auto-select and although the subject is very sensitive in this forum, that works fine.

Just put the problem devices a bit smart in the right HDMI input of the TV or external switch.
In the HDMI switch I bought (don't want to mention the brand again) you can even program the behaviour of every input. Perhaps Samsung will pick up that idea over 2 years...

What's worse is that when i bought the Nintendo Switch it's been changning to that hdmi port every 30min or so.

We need a fix asap!!!

How come Samsung can't, did not want to or take so long time to try to fix this.

without buying a hdmi Switch, just connecting equipments to the different HDMI port cause the issue. The TV switch automatically even if there is a blank image and it popup a message saying that there is no signal and suggest to change source!!!!!!! so why the Tv has switched.

some equipments go to sleep rather to completely shutdown, in sleep mode they can update stuff, do scheduled record etc. i think that's what the actual firmware did'nt handle correctly. to avoid this famous issue, i have to deactivate Anynet+ or unplug hdmi cable  or completely shutdown equipments connected to the TV, (hah i'm not enjoying that, i'm just hopping that samsung will fix quickly that issue in the next firmware release).

I hate what Samsung did on 2016 TV, and my wife and children are hating my decision to buy that TV ( i have complaint from theme each day).

Samsung did't do enough testing and check the compatibility of this feature  with equipments that customers are supposed to have before releasing it.

Samsung you are focusing on quantity over quality (i had issues with 3 samsung equipments bought in 2016/2017 : TV, gearfit2 and a washer),  you will loose customers.

I returned the gearfit2 and avoided buying the gear s3, i'm waiting for another famous company (that i still trust) to release a smartwatch with GPS.

Samsung team, just ask yourself : Does our customers trust our effort to raise quality or not ? what are the actions that impact it positively and what actions impact it negatively ?

you have here a lot of customers awaiting you to fix a big and major issue, without fixing it, you will loose theme and they will spread that negative image of your brand to others.

Sadly I have to agree with Hixam

it's not an issue for this thread but my Samsung BD HDD is not without its niggling problems.

Samsung definitely seem to have lost their way and quality is nowhere near where it was a couple of years ago.  It will certainly affect my decisions when devices need replacing in the future.

what is more annoying is that Samsung are burying their heads in the sand and sticking to their 'feature not a fault' mantra, and doing nothing to keep their customers satisfied.

Hi,

I just wanted to say that after reading all 33 pages of this forum post, and pulling my hair out with the same situation as many people here, I have found a solution that has worked for me. So, this is my situation:

Samsung UE55KS7000 in the UK

Humax HDR-1100S Freesat PVR

Whenever the Humax came out of sleep to check recordings scheduled etc. (about every 30 minutes) the TV would switch to it's source HDMI 1 and kill anything you were watching on any other HDMI.

I had Anynet+ turned OFF that didn't solve the problem

I purchased a MANUAL HDMI switch and baffleingly that Did Not Work either although I'm still not sure why.

I dug out an old NEET Powered Remote HDMI switch I'd used before, mainly due to someone mentioning they had luck with a powered switch earlier in this thread... and it worked!!!

Humax PVR plugged into Input 1 on the switch; switch plugged into HDMI 1 on the TV but most importantly for me, the switch HAS TO BE PLUGGED INTO THE MAINS. When plugged into the mains, the switch is Always sending a signal to the TV saying that the HUMAX is there 24/7. This behaviour tends to mean that when you are watching another source, because the TV is happy that the Humax is there and not newly plugged in etc (I think something to do with Pin 19) it's happy for it to turn on in the background and NOT switch to it.

The switch I had is similar, but not exactly the same as, this one on Amazon UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neet®-SWITCH-REMOTE-output-Switcher/dp/B001PL5QDY/ and this one on Amazon USA: https://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-HD1832-Intelligent-Adapter-Supports/dp/B008D6YZXG but like I say I can't find the exact model I now am using. The CRITICAL thing is that when plugged in, the switch must ALWAYS stay on sending a signal to the TV.

I hope this helps some people, I felt I really ought to post this in the hope it will help others.
