Projectors & Other TVsCRAZY!! I've had this tv for probably 5 years. It's my main TV in my bedroom. My lady and I were watching the football game and the tv started flickering then all of s sudden sparks started flying out of this hole on the bottom left of the screen! Right onto a pile of socks! I swiftly jumped up and unplugged it - granted I really didn't want to touch the power cable but it was better than a fire on my dresser! The power cable didn't feel hot or anything, but the bottom of the tv was hot! It smells terrible now and I'm afraid to plug it in...

Projectors & Other TVsWelcome to the Samsung Member's Community! Thank you for your question regarding your Samsung Television. OH NO! Please DO NOT Plug it back in. It sounds like a CATASTROPHIC ELECTRICAL FAILURE of your Samsung Television.
For your SAFETY and potential for a future FIRE HAZARD. Again DO NOT plug it back in!
It sounds like the Television will need to be disposed of in the proper manner. It is highly likely that your Samsung Television has sustained serious damage. It would be at this point cost prohibitive to repair it. It's time to consider the purchase of a new Television.
I recommend replacement because the parts, labor, and the age of the Television is not worth repairing at this point.
I'm pleased to hear that you took prompt action. So glad that you are safe!

Projectors & Other TVsThe Television could have sustained thermal damage to the Power Supply, the LCD Panel, Wiring, Speakers, Flex Ribbon Cables. Damage to the LED's, and Diffuser Laminate Layers. Melted plastic too! The labor for service alone is cost prohibitive. Your talking anywhere from $40.00-$50.00 per hour. That's labor alone.
Then the costs in parts. it could be repaired. But it's still a five-year-old Television. I suggested replacement. Because a néw Television of a newer series will provide a warranty, will have better technology, and will cost less.
The poster can look on the internet and find excellent deals right now on Televisions.
