My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.

I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.

If I can't fix it, can I install a different app for

My Google storage is 94% full. Could that be connected?

My messages app will NOT work despite doing everything one normally does to get an app working again. It's VERY frustrating!

I uninstall google meet and installed the latest google meet version and is now able to use message again without crashing for now.  Urge everyone to try this.  If you currently have or ever had google meet app in the past, try to install the latest google meet app and see if it helps. I will keep update if anything else happens

Changing from Samsung Message as default to Google Message worked for me. Thanks for the tip!

Why switch to Google when it is their Google meet app that is messing up everything? I did exactly what this said and now my messages are working again. **bleep** Google.

Forced stopped Google Meet and it worked for me. Thank goodness I have my phone paired with my laptop and I've been able to text that way all day.
