Samsung Apps and Services
It's no secret that the Quick Measure app doesn't exactly work well. I am proposing a solution that can be applied to some Galaxy devices already out. Back a few years ago, certain Galaxy devices such as the Galaxy Note 10+ came equipped with a TOF sensor on the back. Applications could use this for AR purposes. This is no longer included on new Galaxy devices, but certain Galaxy devices come equipped with a laser autofocus. For purposes such as determining distance to an object with Quick Measure, the laser autofocus system can be used to determine distance to an object by allowing the camera to use laser autofocus and using a look-up table to convert that data into usable distance measurements. This will allow for much more accurate AR applications on devices equipped with a laser autofocus, such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra. For an expensive phone such as this with a specialized sensor, it would make sense to increase the value of this sensor by integrating additional functionality.
