Samsung Gallery sync not working correctly

I have been using Gallery Sync to OneDrive for over a year and it has always worked as I expected, as a two-way sync between DCIM/Camera and Pictures/...

However I recently did a system restore on my phone (Galaxy S22) and I cannot get it working correctly again. What I find is:

(1) Photos added to DCIM/Camera on phone show up correctly in OneDrive/Pictures/Samsung Gallery/DCIM/Camera but photos deleted from phone are not deleted from OneDrive.

(2) Photos added to Pictures/some-album on phone do not show up in OneDrive/Pictures/Samsung Gallery/Pictures/some-album and photos deleted from phone are not deleted from OneDrive.

(3) Photos added to OneDrive, either DCIM/Camera or Pictures/some-album, do not show up on phone, nor are deletions synced in this direction.

I have:

  • verified Gallery sync with OneDrive is enabled and all my albums are listed and enabled in Albums to sync.

  • logged out of and back into my Samsung account on my phone and my computer

  • disconnected and reconnected the synchronization of OneDrive with Samsung Gallery

Are you sure you are using sync and not backup?  If using backup, the photos you delete from your phone will stay in one drive.  With sync, anything you delete from Gallery will also be removed from OneDrive.

Not sure what you mean, there is no option for backup.

Hello MichaelK, Welcome to the Community. We understand the frustration of trying to get OneDrive and Gallery synced. For reference, we are including a link with steps to sync the Gallery to OneDrive: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10002778/

Have you verified your storage in your account?

Do you have battery saver enabled on the phone? Additionally, have you checked optimization settings for the apps?

We also found this link from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/samsung-gallery-and-onedrive-99c4e77b-8e63-4ddc-aede-19f8...

Let us know if this helps.

Battery saver not enabled.

Info from Microsoft does not help.

Thank you for the additional information. Is the OneDrive Camera Roll enabled?

Have you tried completely unlinking and removing the OneDrive account, then adding it back?

Please submit an error report to provide data directly to the developers: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Submit-an-Error-Report/ba-p/3001692

Gallery sync seems to have problems figuring out when to sync.  It was refusing to sync with OneDrive while I was abroad, even when connected to WiFi, because I had disabled "sync while roaming". After enabling it it claimed it was syncing, but my pictures still domn't appear in OneDrive.

Did you perhaps fill the tiny 5gb of free data it gives you? If you don't pay $ for more storage, it won't sync regardless of the settings.

Hey, make sure you log in with your Microsoft account. If you're running out of OneDrive storage, you should probably upgrade.
