Dear Samsung developers, we have Secure Folder and Pin App features on our devices which are useful but to make our Samsung devices ultimately secure, the ability to lock :locked_with_key: apps individually would be one of the most sought after and most important useful features of One UI 7.0. Please make this happen šŸ™‚

Do you mean like Apple did with iOS 18? It would be nice

True, but I would feel the most security from being able lock or unlock apps with my own personal biometrics.

I recently requested Samsung's developers to give us more security with the option to lock individual apps. I just realized that there's also another option that we have on our Galaxy S Tabs 8 through 10 Ultra, that is to add more than one user account! If Samsung developers will not give us the ability to lock individual apps, then unlock the ability to create more than one user account, with the option to unlock with biometrics different from one account to the next, if I'm being clear.

Isn't it up to the app developer to require a password or 'lock' to access their app? My bank and other financial apps do.

Regardless, I thought I saw an article that the ability to lock apps was coming in the next UI update.

I really don't understand the need for app locks, when the entire phone is locked. I never hand over my phone without pinning the app, nor do I casually leave my phone around unlocked. Locking apps isn't going to help you if you're leaving your unlocked phone laying around and open to someone uploading malware or tracking software.

Phone security is 75% a personal responsibility. The tools are already there; however, the more tools the better, I guess. Whether they add locking apps or not, it's not going to change anything for me.

Ok, but more is better from both sides, theirs and mine. We all must do our part. We're paying a lot for these devices and I feel that Samsung or any other company should provide the best in everything since they're the ones charging us what they charge, then yes, I have a responsibility to do my part.

More is not necessarily better, it's just one more password to forget the way people on this forum seem to get instant amnesia as regards their passwords.  Also, you have to be either extremely paranoid or extremely criminal to require multiple layers of security for apps on your phone.  The ONLY reason I can think of for normal people to require an app lock is if they are in the habit of allowing small children to use their phone for entertainment, in which case, the secure folder or hiding the apps should be sufficient.

Also, your comment about the price you pay for the phone and what you think you are entitled to is ridiculous.  You have a choice of which phone to buy at which price point and it behooves you to explore what features the phone currently has, and purchase on that knowledge only -- not in hopes of what some future feature will be added.  No one is entitled to anything but what they pay for at the moment they made the purchase.

Thank you. Some people get it others are just okay with anything going on with their devices. I would rather have a dumb device than a smart one with no control over it. I'm not paying for that. A panic button would be good.
