I am trying to switch the default "internal storage" to my SD card. I have minimal apps on the actual internal, and I stick cant even do primary system/app updates.

I ran across this method and purchased  fresh 256gb micro SD card. First I removed any SD Card, did factory reset, then insert SD card, went through settings per directions, but there is no "Format as Internal" option. Just "format".
Android version is 8.1.0
Samsung Experience is 9.5

Does anyone know what Im doing wrong?

Unfortunately, you can't format an SD Card as internal storage. Not anymore at least.

You can only use an SD card to free up space on the internal storage by moving photos, videos, and documents to the card. Apps have to run from the internal storage memory.
