Earlier today I used Nearby Share to transfer a file from my Moto G Power to my Tab S8. I would regularly use the Nearby Share functionality to easily and quickly move things between my two devices.
I tried again later today, the Nearby Share button is gone and my tablet proudly announces it's part of their "Quick Share" app and now the two devices cannot see each other!
The only option is to use a QR Code to give my phone a *Cloud* link but I'm still left with no way to send from my phone to my tablet anymore!
I haven't updated my device in months and this invasive change occurred in the background even as I was using my tablet. Outrageous. I guess my only time buying a Samsung mobile device will also be my last.

I just checked my tablet and it works both to and from my Moto Z.

If from a Gallery Pic you tap the Share icon you will be able to tap Quick Share icon.  From there it opens a Quick Share popup and begins scanning.  If your Moto is unlocked it should just appear on that Quick Share popup window and you can select it to make the transfer.  The opposite is true going from Moto to Samsung.

In both cases you have to have Nearby Share configured in Settings.

If it's configured and not working the first thing I would do on the tablet is press and hold Power and Vol Down until it resets and see if that fixes it.

Samsung and google announced on CES that nearby share would merge with quickshare. you might need to update your motorola or share the files via bluetooth

Isn't Android's built in Nearby Share a Bluetooth function though? It was working TODAY until suddenly it's "combined" with Quick Share and nothing works. My phone is fully updated and it WAS functional until Samsung decided to shut it off behind my back.

Nearby share wasn't "removed by Samsung" because it was never a Samsung product to begin with, it was the Google fileshare that was recently combined with Samsung quickshare.

Play whatever word games you want. The "Nearby Share" button disappeared off my device in the course of an afternoon with no input from me. They took a ubiquitous Android feature off my device *which worked just an hour prior* and forced me to use their in-house alternative which *doesn't*. It's a giant middle finger that I send right back at them.

No, it's not there. The only way I can get the button back is if I Uninstall Updates on the bloated suite of new Quickshare apps (Quickshare, Quickshare Agent, and Quickshare Connectivity) but clicking the Nearby Share just forces me back to updating their new garbage app that doesn't work.

Your hard shutdown and restart of the Tab S8 did the trick... I'd have expected a normal commanded restart (with the regular command in the quick menu, which I had attempted) would do the trick but technology never fails to surprise.
