Washers and Dryers

I’ve had my dryer for less than a month and don’t overload it, but all of a sudden it started sounding like metal to metal grinding. Everything I read said it was a bearing? I took out the clothes and it still has a faint metal to metal grinding noise

Washers and Dryers

Hi there, Thanks so much for posting about this. I know how concerning strange noises from a new appliance can be. However, according to our guide on dryer sounds (linked below) grinding sounds usually happen when the dryer load is too heavy. If you hear these sounds, immediately stop the cycle and reduce the weight of the load. Additionally, we recommend drying fewer items at a time, and running the items through a spin cycle on the washer before putting them in the dryer. These steps will help remove excess water and reduce weight.

However, If the noise occurs even when the weight of the load is normal (about four wet towels), we would recommend service as the next step. There are a few options here we can take based on your warranty status.
If you’re in the one-year manufacturer’s warranty, please gather together the full model and serial number of your unit, and have ready your name, street address, 2 phone numbers (Best contact, alternative number), email, and place of purchase. Provide this information to an agent, in one of the following options below:
