This rant is in reference to the latest update with the baseband version A146U1UESADXI2

After the most recent OTA update the battery life on the device went from 1.5 to 2 days, to 0.5 days. Reaching out to support I get two answers:
1) Bring the device in for battery replacement. Which isn't the issue. Li-Poly batteries don't age 1000 power cycles overnight. And if I wanted to do that I'd pay 30 bucks for a new battery myself, install it, and save myself the weeks without the device.

2) Follow battery optimization steps found on the support site. Which, are so basic they might as well ask the user if they are sure if they charged the device properly.

After a evaluation of the dumped log file I've identified the system modules that are causing the drain, but what I don't know is what can be disabled without bricking the device.

Of course I've been waiting more than two months since the awful OTA update for a fix, charging my phone throughout the day as a result. Nothing makes a phone more mobile than walking around with a secondary battery. /s

In closing, Samsung, run a modicum of validation/verification on an update before you annoy your customers. I've been buying your devices for years but after this incident, no prompt fix, and then having to rely on support people with no technical training at all for assistance, that won't be the case next year.

And, before some helpful Samsung mod here tries to suggest I submit an issue report through the Samsung Members app or check for apps in the background - just don't.  I've done all the basic steps you'll suggest because yes, I've owned a phone before.

Have you deleted the cache partition after the update?

Yes.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I already know what the problem is. Evaluation of the log with Battery Historian indicated the systems modules that are to blame but since I don't know their function I'm not willing to use adb to disable them only to find them to be critical - and myself with a bricked device.

Now I am just continuing to wait for the long overdue update in the hope that I don't have to toss a otherwise perfectly good phone.

Very frustrating. Hence the rant above.
